Pearl Size
The longer the natural cultured pearls are raised, the larger they become, and the rarer they are.
- Freshwater pearls 7-8mm need 3-4 years to cultivate
- Pearls 8-9mm need 4-5 years to cultivate
- Pearls 9-10mm need 6-8 years to cultivate
- Freshwater pearls above 10mm require 10 years to cultivate
Pearl Flaw
Pearl surfaces will have more or less some “marks,”, “lines”, “wrinkles”, “dents” and other flaws. As the saying goes, “No flaws, no pearls”. Fewer flaws are better. Generally speaking, flaws are acceptable if they are not visible from a distance of 0.5 meters.
How to Identify Natural Pearls
Use a small knife to scrape the pearl, tiny powder will appear. Gently rub it, and the pearl will be as good as new (improper operation may cause the pearl to be scratched, so be sure to scrape lightly and evenly, not cutting inward).
Note: For luxury sea pearls, it is recommended to go to the appraisal center for identification to avoid damaging the skin, and regret later.
